The show, from April 3 through April 30, at the Fayetteviille Free Library, will feature over 30 local artists who are members of the new, virtual CNYArtists.com community, some with well known names and other emerging artists that have been specially selected for this show. Work shown will include pastels, acrylics, oils, photographs, pen and ink, etchings, and mixed media, plus jewelry from two different local crafts women, each of whose work was featured on Etsy.
Artist’s work include John McGrath’s popular and humorous pen and ink drawings that are a collector’s delight, fine prints by Elizabeth Andrews, pastels by Wendy Harris, and work by Daniel Shanahan, Joan Applebaum, Judy Hand, Ellen Gerberich, Izzy Dugger, Marc Pittarrelli, Michael Massurin, Jeff Allen, Diane Lange, Deborah Curriere, Linda Bigness, Jacqueline Adamo, Elena Rall Aida, Don Ford, Travis Feldman, Deborah Laun, Deborah Walsh, Jean Dupre, Deb Dahlin, Charlotte Blanchard,Cynthia Schmidt, Kristina Starowitz, Yolanda Tooley., Deborah Laun, Cynthia Cameron, Renee Noelle-Felice.
This first show coincides with the official roll out of the CNYArtists.com Social Networking Community site for artists, crafters, creators and anyone who is interested in art, craft, creating, and culture. People can see a sample of the work at the show by going to www.CNYArtists.com
A “ Meet the Artists” reception will be held on Sunday April 10th from 2 – 4. At the Fayetteville library, and is open to the public. The founder of the site Peter Svoboda, will also be available to answer any questions about the social community and its use, and in addition, Mary Stanley, head of the CNY ARTS Covenant will be there to announce the Arts Covenant Contest will be giving away four $1,000 prizes within the next few months. The CNYArtists.com Community offers a 3 month free Membership for anyone who wants to see what membership is like. Membership gives people the opportunity to have their own page, where they can post pictures of their work, add videos, connect with others, join special groups, participate in organized chats. Over the last 6 months the community has grown to 176 members and creative collaborations have taken place resulting in the formation of groups for creating Artist Trading Cards, Storytelling, Painting, special photo shoots and other pursuits such as the teaching of classes.
Organized chats online are used to stir ideas, share information, and foster collaborations.
