Art Available - Gallery 1

Hope by Ron Warford, 40' x 30 " Graphite on Black Board, Framed
Mr. Warford's work was selected by the Smithsonian Institution for a national traveling exhibition in 1973. He was one of the initial founding and teaching members at the Folk Art Gallery in Syracuse. His work spings from his imagination and is masterfully executed. Tel (315) 391-5115 for more info or to purchase. One of the presidents of a local art guild referred to Ron's work as  "master works" for their power and quality.

Strength , by Ron Warford. 20 " X 30"

Home is Where the Hearth Is by Jaws. This piece took 600 hours. Amazingly, to produce this the artist had to put the snowflakes  in first on a white fine piece of paper and then build everything around it. Think about it - this amazing work, and other pieces of the artists work can be seen at CNY Artists Gallery, which purchased this piece in 2013.

My Pill Bowl

Unfortunately, my pill bowl does not exist anymore.  I packed it carefully in a huge cardboard box full of packing peanuts, and put it in my car to take it to a show.  It got hot in the car, where I had to leave it while at work.  It melted.  I was horrified when I opened it up at the drop off point and saw the devistation.  I took the remnents home, and worked hard all night.  It is no longer a bowl, now it is more like an egg with handles.  I think I actually like it better now, except it had… Continue

acrylic REVOLUTION

As an abstract artist, I am always trying to find new and different ways to express myself on paper, canvas, etc. I was at my local art supply store replenishing my inventory when I came across a book called "acrylic REVOLUTION" by Nancy Reyner. I started flipping through, and thought, this looks fun!! I had an idea that will without a doubt would keep the creativity flowing plus be an…

Drafting table needs a new home

I have a large industrial size drafting table which needs a new home. I am not kidding about it being industrial sized; it was originally used by the engineers at Carrier. I am rearranging my studio and just don't have room for the drafting table anymore. The table has two work surfaces; a drafting side which slants at various angles and a flat side. The drafting side measures 40" x 60"; the flat side 31" x 60" and also has a storage drawer which can hold several drawings. The table surface…

Archaeological Drawings Inspires Americana Art

I found myself in Johnstown, New York, last weekend when I had the chance to go to the 95th annual conference of the New York State Archaeological Association with dear friends. I attended this conference last year as well, which was located in the Catskills. Because of my great experience last year, I was really looking forward to this one as well.

I have… Continue

Royal Wedding Horses May Steal the Show

I have written my past two blogs about the royal wedding horse carriage and the people that drive them, now let’s focus on the horses that pull them. From the numerous records kept about the horses in the royal archives, it seems that chestnut-colored horses have never been used as harness horses in the Royal Mews (royal horse stables). Coincidentally, many years ago when I was taking dressage lessons, my instructor warned me to never buy a Chestnut Mare because they are high strung and act…

ArtOnThePorches2011@gmail.com

On a personal note, last year was my first atempt at being part of this event.  I brrowed a 10x10 display tent from a friend, rented a U-Haul bc my husband's jeep wasn't enough space, and with loads of help from my husband I was able to get everything there and displayed.  I went overboard- my paintings…

back to my other roots.

Well, the change in the wind has happened once more...My "girls" are on hold and I am back to my fabric art... I have deceided to set a huge goal for myself that has been brewing for about 10 years..amazing how long it takes for that gust of wind to reach my creative space.... I am very focused...I really think...actually ,really know that my financial aspirations are the big motivator....I know some artists will disagree with that way of thinking...but hey.. whatever floats your boat to…

SPRING IS...HERE!?

I am so excited to get outside. I feel so claustrophobic, pale, drained and anxious from the long winter. Spring always makes me feel like a who new person! Today I spent the day in our sunroom. That is a start. My camera and I are ready to get out and capture more of life's beautiful moments. Peace, Misse "Faux Sunshine" 8x12 print $20.00 …
